The preservation of Botswana’s fragile flora—specifically the Hyphaene petersiana (Mokola palm) and indigenous dye plants such as Euclea divinorum (Magic Guarri)—is essential to our operational license. All guild artisans registered under our Botswana Empowerment & Trade Partnership (BETP) must adhere to strict harvesting standards:
- Leaf Pruning Protocols: Artisans are trained to harvest only the central unopened palm heart leaves, leaving mature fronds intact to maintain photosynthetic vitality.
- Seasonal Rotational Gathering: Clay collection along river tributaries is restricted during fish spawning seasons to prevent riverbank erosion.
- Botanical Re-seeding: For every tree bark harvest used in natural tanning or dyeing, artisans participate in communal root-care and re-planting programs.
Ethical Animal By-Products & Organic Tanning
